Solo Female RV Life: Is It Really Safe?My Honest Experience & Tips
If you’ve ever wondered, “Is it safe to travel alone in an RV as a woman?” You’re not alone. Before I started my journey, I had the same question… and honestly, a few fears too. But here’s the truth: solo female RV life can be safe, empowering, and life-changing, when you do it right. I’m Val from Adventures with Val23, and I’m here to share my real experience, along with practical tips to help you feel confident hitting the road.
My Experience as a Solo Female RVer
As a solo female traveler and Army veteran, I’ve had the opportunity to travel, camp, and explore on my own terms.
Have I been nervous at times? Absolutely.
But I’ve also:
Pulled my 5th wheel (Diamond) to campgrounds solo
Set up and broken down campsites alone
Traveled to new places without knowing a soul and through it all, I’ve learned that Confidence comes from preparation, and Not fear.
Solo Female RV Life Safety
The answer is: Yes but with the right precautions. Just like anything in life, safety comes down to awareness, preparation, and trusting your instincts.
My Top Safety Tips for Solo Female RVers
1. Trust Your Gut not some times but Always
If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.
*Leave. No explanation needed. Safety First over everything!
2. Choose Campgrounds Wisely
Stick to:
Places with good lighting and visibility
I personally enjoy places like Savannah Lakes and other well-maintained friendly staffed campgrounds when Solo Camping. I mentioned Savannah Lakes because it's one of my favorite RV Resorts, I have a video or two on my YouTube channel, that I've taken the liberty to link below.
3. Keep Your Setup Low-Key
Avoid sharing your exact location in real-time
Don’t advertise that you’re alone
4. Have Basic Protection & Awareness
This can include:
Safety tools (depending on your comfort level)
Knowing your surroundings
5. Stay Connected
Let someone know where you are
Check in with family or friends
6. Confidence is Your Superpower
Walk like you belong there, because you do.
